Configurable to dual AMD FirePro D700, each with 6GB of GDDR5 VRAM, 2048 stream processors, 384-bit-wide memory bus, 264GB/s memory bandwidth, and 3.5 teraflops performance Dual AMD FirePro.
Advanced Micro Devices this week announced a new lineup of FirePro professional graphics processors for Apple's new Mac Pro professional workstation.
The AMD FirePro D300, D500, and D700 professional GPUs, available in dual configurations optimized for running Apple's OS X Mavericks operating system, 'offer exceptional compute power and reliability for creativity and productivity in a wide range of applications,' the chip maker said in a statement.
'We are very proud to offer dual AMD FirePro professional graphics in the new Mac Pro to empower users with the power and performance they need for uncompromising creativity and productivity,' said Matt Skynner, corporate vice president and general manager of AMD's Graphics Business Unit.
'AMD prides itself on quality support and development for our professional graphics solutions. Backed by award winning graphics technology, we believe Mac Pro users will experience top notch results with AMD FirePro GPUs.'
The new FirePro solutions support OpenCL and are based on AMD's Graphics Core Next graphics processor architecture used in the chip maker's latest, most powerful GPUs in its Radeon line for consumer PCs and integrated with x86-based central processor cores in top-shelf APUs sold by the company.
At the top of the heap is AMD's new FirePro D700 line of dual-card products, which sport up to 2,048 stream processors per GPU and can tap into up to 6G of virtual memory. The most powerful configurations in this stack are capable of up to 7 teraflops of computing power, according to AMD. Fifa 12 for mac os x.
Fonts for jerseys. Apple's new flagship desktop workstation features an eye-catching, compact aluminum chassis shaped in a sure-to-be-iconic cylindrical design which serves as the housing for the Mac maker's heat-beating Unified Thermal Core.
The new Mac Pro offers plenty of expansion possibilities and more I/O than you can shake a stick at, taking full advantage of the dual-GPU options available to purchasers of this system. The workstation relies on a single central processor, with choices across a range of multi-core Xeon E5 CPUs from Intel available.

AMD didn't specify pricing for its new Mac Pro-ready dual FirePro graphics solutions, but to get an idea of what you'll be ponying up, consider that the entry-level Mac Pro with a quad-core Intel Xeon E5 processor and 12GB of RAM, two FirePro D300 GPUs with 2GB of dedicated memory each, and 128GB of local flash memory sells for $2,999.
In PCMag's bench testing of the new Mac Pro, we found that Apple's sleek new workstation scored 13.54 points in Cinebench, the best score we've seen among single-CPU workstations. Hardware analyst Brian Westover found that the Mac Pro easily outpaced the Dell Precision T3610 (7.44 points) and HP Z420 (7.21 points), but fell short in terms of raw performance behind the Lenovo ThinkStation D30 (25.31 points), which doubles down on processing power with two Xeon eight-core processors instead of one.
